Treasure of My Life- My Daughter Shreya

July 20, 2006 - This day is the most memorable day in my Life. Normally if there is a child birth, people will usually call it as a promotion in Family Life. On this gorgeous day, I got 2 promotions not only in my family life but also in my career life. After 20 hrs of Labour pain I delivered my baby. My sweet little daughter first opens her little eyes and saw this world on this day. The same day I got my promotion in my career life as an IT Analyst. So I can say I got 2 promotions. July 30th was the auspicious “Punniyajalam” day. On this occasion lots of our relatives both Venkat and my relatives assembled in Pammal house and they all blessed my daughter and on that day we gave her the sweet name “SHREYA” which means “Auspicious”. She has got 2 more names “KIRTHIGA” and “LAKSHMI”. She is born on a Krithigai star day and hence she got the name KIRTHIGA. My parents and Venkat’s Parents presented jewels for Shreya. Venkat was very happy and every alternative weeks Venkat came from Hyderabad to see her petite kid Shreya!!

For the first 3 months, she slept the whole day in the morning and the full night she was crying. The first 3 months of her birth was a night shift for all in my mom’s house and she was crying for the whole night for all those days. From the 91st day she started sleeping in then night and in the morning she was awake. She was very chubby at that time and fond of drinking milk. One day my mom put all her jewels and she was laughing and we took nice snaps.

Before my delivery itself, I got lots of toys for Shreya from her beloved Peppi and my sweet sister Gayathri. So Shreya slowly started playing with the big fisher price toy. On the 4th month she started to turn around. It was very nice to seeing a baby turning around.
Each stage of a child is really a God’s Blessing. I believe that God will teach each and every baby at their respective months to learn new things. So did our daughter Shreya.

5th Month I came with Shreya to Adyar Home with my in-laws. Mom and dad presented a arana for shreya and blangles for Shreya. Shreya started to crawl in this house. My sister’s gift for shreya is Pram.

We bought a new flat in Velachery and in Jan 29 ’07, we celebrated house warming ceremony. Its 6th Month for Shreya. Our kid is the owner of a new flat. The same day Venkat was asked to start his Onsite procedures in Infosys. Then we shifted all the things from Adyar to Velachery and Shreya again got accustomed to this new house and started crawling in the new house. I started going to office and Shreya used to be with Patti and thatha. Rengu thata took the responsibility of giving her lunch and making her sleep in thuli. He sang lot of songs to make her a good sleep. She enjoyed the songs and started doing mischievous things. She knows 3 songs “Lali” song which vijiamma will always sing and “thuli aada” and “devi sridevi” songs from rengu thatha.

4th April ,07, we made a trip to Kodaikanal. Its 9th month for Shreya. We took many snaps and Shreya looked adorable in those photos. It was one of our unforgettable trip as Shreya fall very sick while returning from kodaikanal to Madurai. We went to Sita Perima’s house and took Shreya to a doctor and gave her medicines. She slowly recovered from that illness. Meanwhile in TCS they asked for “Experience Certainty” innovative video volunteers. Venkat shoot a video of Shreya and we presented that in TCS, though it didn’t get selected, still we got lot of good comments in YouTube. Like most of babies Shreya also trouble us lot in eating. Then slowly she started having food without our compulsion. Suddenly one day my sweet potato started to walk thathka pithuka!!!!. On one auspicious day we took our doll to mayilam temple for hair shredding. She looks awesome even without hair. “Kakaiku than kunju pon konju”.

July20th 07, we celebrated my daughter’s first birthday. I invited all my TCS friends and other friends. We prepared dishes in home itself and around 7pm, my daughter cut the cake and everybody enjoyed the dinner!!! She got lot of soft dolls. She named it as Koki, ramu, kamu, shoba,subramani etc… She started paying with all teddy’s…

7th August 07, we celebrated her ayushomam.This is as per our culture, we pierced her ears and wore her pretty tiny ear rings. She looked amazingly!!!. Slowly we started teaching her with animals and transport pictures. She is very active in learning as well as her interest towards hearing stories is splendid. She slowly started to speak. At the beginning she was telling Thatha and Appa and gradually she started to say Amma. She will call her Chitapa as Thopa and Perima as Pepi. These are her mazhalai words. Still she is using these words.

Whatever we teach her, she is good in grasping the same. She started identifying the animals, transport, colors. At her 11/2 age we came to Nederlands. She started to enjoy her world with her much-loved Appa. Chalam’s bundle of joy is Shreya. He used to play with her for hours after returning from office. Shreya’s mischief grows with her. She started to break the toys, pour the water, etc…. We found sometime hard to manage her. Since I am on a long leave, I am spending my full time with her. After coming to Nederlands, Shreya started to talk sentences. Slowly we started using English words and now she also knows some English words. She always call me as Sowmi amma(not mom or amma). Not only me, she calls every one with name + title, like Venkat appa, Subbu patti, Viji ammamma, Lachu thatha, Rengu thatha, Neeru aunty. I like this way of calling and i dont want to change this.

On April 08, My sister, Cheenu and my niece Shweta kutty came to Nederlands. We all enjoyed those 2 weeks vacation. We went to the Tulip Gardens, Madame Tussard and Efetling Amusement Park and some more places and we all enjoyed. Shweta and Shreya played together and they had a good fun.

We went to Paris, Italy, Texel Island and many places in Nederlands and Shreya enjoyed a lot.

My doll has got lot of Positive Points

She won’t cry if she falls down
She don't have any fear for dark. She goes to all the rooms and hide even if there is no light in the rooms
She loves to walk long distances. She climbed up nearly 450 steps in the Vatican City Rome in her 2 years of age.
She eats dosa, chapatti, bread, and all vegetables. No restriction on food.
But the major negative point is
Her arrogance, we are trying hard to make her to change this single point.

My daughter is a treasure, a blessing. She’s laughter, warmth, and special charm, she’s beauty, and she’s love.My daughter brings a special joy that comes from deep inside; she fills my heart with pride.

With every day that passes, she’s more special than before, through every stage, through every age, I love her even more.

No words can describe the warm memories, the pride and gratitude too, that come from having a daughter to love, and to cherish.
